Landslide blocks Muglin-Narayangadh road yet again
Kathmandu : Muglin-Narayangadh road section has been disrupted again. The road was blocked after another landslide occurred near the Tuin River in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan in the wee hours of Saturday.
The road which was closed due to the landslide at this place on Thursday afternoon was opened from 5 pm yesterday. The Area Police Office, Muglin said that the road was blocked due to a landslide at 3:30 am this morning without allowing the vehicles stranded for 28 hours to go to their destination.
The police say that there is a problem in opening the landslide immediately due to incessant rains.
The police said that the danger has increased in this place because the stones are continuously falling from above even though the debris brought by landslide has been removed.
Muglin-Narayangadh road section is also called the ‘lifeline’ as it is the main road connecting Kathmandu with the eastern and western regions of Nepal.
An average of 10,000 vehicles pass through this road daily. Due to road closures time and again, the passengers traveling back and forth to Kathmandu through eastern and western parts of Nepal have been hit.
