Madhes province politics: Unified Socialist exits from JSP-led govt
Janakpur : The CPN-Unified Socialist Party ministers have resigned from the Madhes government led by the Janata Samajbadi Party.
Two ministers from the Unified Socialist Party tendered their resignations to Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav on Tuesday.
Minister for Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, Govinda Neupane, and Minister for Labor and Transportation, Bechi Lungeli, have resigned from the government.
Earlier, the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Center had agreed to support the Janamat Party to form the Madhes government.
In order to form a new coalition government in Madhes, the support of the Unified Socialist Party or one faction of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party is essential.
To form the government in the 107-member provincial assembly, the support of 54 lawmakers is required.
Among them, there are 25, including the Speaker, from the UML, 9 from the Maoist Center, 13 from the Janamat Party, and 7 from the Unified Socialist Party.
