Staff Reporter Jul 12, 2024

Kathmandu : CPN (UML) Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has clarified that the new power equation was made to raise hope among the people.

Taking part on the behalf of his party in the discussions on the vote of confidence proposal tabled by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, leader Bhattarai mentioned that the two largest parties in the parliament have again started the journey of national development and consensus at a time when the people are desperate.

He shared that the CPN (UML) would cast vote against the trust motion, explaining that a new government would now carry out activities related to development and constitution amendment for progress through a strong and effective government.

Leader Bhattarai commented that saying there was only contribution of the Maoist in Nepal’s democratic movement was wrong at a time when there was participation and contribution of the Nepali Congress, UML and other parties.

He informed that the UML and NC are thinking of taking the CPN (Maoist Centre) together for constitution amendment.

Accusing the Prime Minister Dahal of expressing anger and lying in course of presenting the proposal in the parliament, Bhattarai underlined that the constitution and parliament are being run on the foundation of people’s multi-party democracy put forward by people’s leader Madan Bhandari.

He argued that though the CPN (UML) is always in favour of collaboration and unification of leftists, the CPN (Maoist Centre) involved in the game of making and breaking alliance.

The UML Secretary Bhattarai made it clear that the new equation between the two largest parties was made based on the priorities including guaranteeing future of youths in the country by boosting Nepal’s international image and economy along with constitution implementation and strengthening democracy.
