Nepal routs Sri Lanka 6-0 to enter semi-finals of SAFF Women’s C’ship
Kathmandu : Nepal has entered the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship as the winner of Group ‘B’.
In the final group stage match held at the Dasharath Stadium on Thursday evening, Nepal routed Sri Lanka 6-0 to enter into the semi-finals. Similarly, Bhutan also booked its berth in the semi-finals as the runner-up of Group ‘B’. Now, Nepal will face India at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Nepal took the early lead against the opponent after Sabita Rana Magar scored a goal capitalizing a pass from Samba in the 8th minute of the match.
Nepal doubled the score after Sabitra Bhandari alias Samba’s shot from outside the box turned into a goal in the 12th minute.
Similarly, in the 13th minute, Nepal took a 3-0 lead after Rekha Paudel scored a goal capitalizing a pass from Amisha Karki.
Nepal extended the lead to 4-0 against Sri Lanka after Rekha scored her second individual goal in the 36th minute, by flicking the ball shot by Samba.
Similarly, Amisha Karki scored a goal in the 47th minute, taking the score tally to 5-0. In the 42nd minute, the ball shot by Samba sailed over the cross bar.
In the 94 minute, Rashmi Kumari Ghising scored a goal taking the score tally to 6-0 against the opponent.
Sabita Rana Magar was declared as the Player of the Match.
