Karnali registers 3rd win in NPL, beats Pokhara by 7 wickets

Kathmandu : Karnali Yaks has defeated Pokhara Avengers by 7 wickets in the 17th match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024.

Chasing the 104-run target, Karnali reached it in 15 overs losing three wickets.

To secure win over Pokhara, Gulsan Jha topped the score with 49 runs including 3 fours and 4 sixes off 37 balls followed by Chadwick Walton with 42 runs. Walton hit 6 fours and 1 six off 34 deliveries.

On the bowling side, Bipin Khatri, Sagar Dhakal and Kushal Bhurtel grabbed 1 wicket each for Pokhara.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Karnali managed to score 103 runs in 16.3 overs losing all wickets.
Dinesh Kharel’s 26-run score was the highest for Pokhara followed by Andries Gous with 25 runs while Raymon Reifer contributed 20 runs. Captain Kushal Bhurtel and Bipin Khatri made 10 runs each. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

To limit Pokhara to paltry 103 runs, Karnali’s batsman William took the highest 6 wickets, giving away 28 runs. Similarly, Sompal Kami, Bipin Sharma and Unish Thakuri grabbed 1 wicket each.

With this win, Karnali has secured its third NPL win, adding 6 points to its tally. Karnali, with three wins and two losses out of five NPL matches, is in the fourth place in the points table. With the win, Karnali’s chances of reaching the playoffs has become stronger.

Pokhara, on the other hand, languishes in the sixth place with 2 points from three losses and one win out of four NPL matches played so far. Its playoff hopes are fading.
