Kathmandu : MP Eknath Dhakal Meets UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang during US Visit

New York: MP Eknath Dhakal, member of the House of Representatives of Nepal, currently on an official visit to the United States of America, met with the President of the United Nations General Assembly Philemon Yang, on Wednesday. During the meeting, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, MP Dhakal appreciated the UN’s contribution to Nepal’s peace process and conveyed greetings and best wishes from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

President Yang recalled the important meeting between him and Prime Minister Oli during the 79th UN General Assembly and reiterated the good will of the UN toward the journey of Nepal for peace and prosperity.

MP Dhakal, who had travelled to the US to attend the inauguration of President Donald Trump, also held a meeting with six US Congress members from both the Republican and Democratic parties in Washington, D.C. At Capitol Hill, he had separate discussions with Congress members Beth Van Duyne, Danny Davis, John Tyler Doolittle, Jonathan Jackson, and Louie Gohmert on mutual interests and Nepal-US parliamentary exchanges.

Besides, MP Dhakal visited the headquarters of ‘The Washington Times’ and interacted with the Chairman of the newspaper, Thomas McDevitt, among others.

A former minister, MP Dhakal is a member of Nepal’s House of Representatives International Relations and Tourism Committee and is actively involved in the Nepal-US Parliamentary Friendship Group. His visit has been given special significance by US leaders.
