Staff Reporter Feb 18, 2025

Kathmandu : The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has decided to vote against the ordinances brought by the government.

In a meeting of the party’s standing committee held at the party office in Aloknagar on Tuesday, the decision was made to oppose the ordinances, stating that it was wrong for the government to issue various ordinances without consulting Parliament ahead of the upcoming parliamentary session.

According to the party’s spokesperson, Prakash Jwala, the meeting discussed how the government’s action of issuing ordinances without returning bills under discussion in Parliament violated constitutional, legal, parliamentary, and procedural norms.

Jwala added, “The ordinances benefit land mafia, black marketeers, tax evaders, middlemen, corrupt individuals, smugglers, and brokers.”

Furthermore, the meeting called on the government to investigate and take action regarding an incident involving Nepali students at a campus in Odisha, India, and to ensure adequate security measures for students.

The standing committee also passed agendas including the party’s political report, its rules and regulations, code of conduct, and future action plans.

The committee will meet again on Wednesday.
