Nepal lift Prime Minister’s Three Nations Cup
Kathmandu : Nepal on Friday lifted the Prime Minister’s Three Nations Cup defeating Laos 2-1.
At the final played at the Dasharath Stadium, Laos took the lead against Nepal in the 17th minute of the match with a goal from Photthavong Sangvilay.
However, the lead couldn’t continue for long as Ayush Ghalan levelled the scoreline for Nepal, scoring a goal in the 24th minute.
Manish Dangi added another goal in the 87th minute to seal the victory for Nepal.
Laos showcased an impressive performance in the first half but could not continue it in the second half.
The second half of the match was completely in favour of Nepal.
Ayush’s header from a close range in the 61st minute went wide of the post. In the 68th minute of the match, Nishan Khadka squandered a free-kick opportunity. Although Manish’s shot in the 75th minute went past the post, it was termed offside.
Along with the title, Nepal have received $5,000 while Laos received $3,000.
The match, however, will not be counted as an official international like the previous games of the tournament as it won’t fall under FIFA international window.
Nepal had entered the final of the tournament defeating Laos 2-0 in the first match and playing a draw against Bhutan. Laos had made it to the final defeating Bhutan 2-1.
