Koshi CM Karki secures vote of confidence
Biratnagar : Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, has received the vote of confidence on Wednesday.
Kari garnered 86 votes in the meeting of Koshi Province Assembly held today.
Koshi Province Deputy Speaker Srijana Danuwar announced that Chief Minister Karki secured the vote of confidence with 86 votes.
Of the 93-member Province Assembly, 39 lawmakers from the ruling alliance (Congress 21, Maoist Center 13, Unified Socialist 4 and Janata Samajbadi Party 1), 39 from CPN (UML) and eight from Congress lawmakers from Shekhar Koirala camp of Congress ,who revolted from within the party, cast votes for Karki.
RPP has six lawmakers. Of them, five stood against Karki while one abstained from the meeting. Koshi Province Deputy Speaker Srijana Danuwar did not cast her vote.
At least 47 lawmakers are required to secure the vote of confidence.
Congress leader Karki had become the Chief Minister last Saturday with the support of 39 lawmakers from UML and 8 from his own party in line with Article 168 (5) of the Constitution.
