Sarlahi : Two people died and seven others sustained injuries in a tractor accident in Barahathwa in Sarlahi district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Jaya Lal Sahani and Ram Nath Sahani, 50, of Gadhimai Municipality-9, informed DSP Dipendra Panjiyar of District Police Office, Sarlahi.

The ill-fated tractor fell some 30 feet down into the canal of Bagmati River on Wednesday afternoon.

 Jaya Lal, the owner of the tractor, was driving it when the accident took place, said Panjiyar.

Similarly, the inured include Akash Sahani, 17, Kishan Sahani, 12, Garbhi Sahani, 48, Sukhli Devi, 45, Nitesh Sahani, 18, Kishori Anchala Kumari 16, and Ram Prasad Sahani, 67. All of them are from Gadhimai.

‘Of the injured, the condition of Akash Sahani and Kishan Sahani is critical,” said DSP Panjiyar. They have been referred to Birgunj for further treatment. The others injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals.
