PM Oli unveils roadmap for Constitution amendment

Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has outlined the roadmap for constitutional amendment in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR).

Addressing the parliament meeting that began on Friday, Prime Minister Oli said that the constitution amendment will be given top priority after reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the Constitution.

“The government will review the strengths and weaknesses of the Constitution and the complications seen during its implementations will be amended for political stability,” he said.

He further shared that Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) are working on it by forming a task force including experts.

He added, “The issues of constitutional amendment will be identified first after intensive discussions with various stakeholders and parties. Discussions will be held with parties represented in parliament or other stakeholders on the identified issues.”

He stated that a common view will be established following comprehensive discussions with everyone.

“The task of bringing the constitutional amendment bill is the government’s duty. The government will form a common understanding based on conclusions of debates and discussions,” he said, “and an amendment proposal will be prepared in accordance with these conclusions.”
