Kapilvastu – In the Central Committee meeting of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, more than two-thirds of the speaking members emphasized the need for immediate party unity with the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the Socialist Front.

The meeting, held in Shivgadhi, Kapilvastu, has been focused on crucial discussions to determine the future direction of the party. Most central committee members speaking at the meeting stressed that priority should be given to uniting with the Maoist Centre. Leaders also noted that there is widespread support for unity across the provinces.

Discussions also touched upon anti-unity and polarization activities carried out by various online platforms and individuals. Informally, several central committee members met with General Secretary Biplav, urging him to take immediate concrete steps toward unity. “If the decision does not reflect the sentiment of the members, we are prepared to engage in further debates in a new format,” the leaders said.

Some members expressed concern that attempts were being made to weaken the Maoist faction by positioning Biplav at the center. The meeting has also highlighted the party’s transition from underground politics to mainstream political engagement, which is being viewed as a historic moment for the party.
