Kathmandu: Five women have been appointed to the 15 member Council of Ministers led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, marking a notable level of female representation in the new government.

The five ministers are:

  • Sobita Gautam — Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
  • Pratibha Rawal — Minister for General Administration
  • Sita Badi — Minister for Women and Children
  • Nisha Mehta — Minister for Health and Population
  • Gita Chaudhary — Minister for Agriculture

The ministers took the oath of office and secrecy from President Ram Chandra Paudel during a special ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas on Friday.

Their appointments bring increased attention to gender inclusion in the cabinet, as the new administration begins its term.
