Kathmandu : Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated across the country on Monday.

A large number of people have reached the Mangal-Bazar-based historic temple of the Hindu deity Shree Krishna today to celebrate the festival.

Krishna Janmashtami falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Saun as per the Bikram Sambat calendar.

The government has announced a public holiday, today on the occasion of the Krishna Janmashtami.
