KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has officially announced plans to unify with several leftist parties on November 4 (Kartik 19), following a central secretariat meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Perisdanda.

During Saturday’s meeting, party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ briefed leaders on the ongoing unification process with the CPN (Unified Socialist). He emphasized that unity and polarization among leftist forces have become a historic necessity, reaffirming that the unification process will move forward without obstruction.

According to party sources, the General Convention Organizing Committee will meet again on November 2 (Kartik 17), while the official announcement of the merger is expected on November 3 (Kartik 18).

Party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said the central committee meeting scheduled for Kartik 18 will finalize the decision on party unification. The formal merger of around half a dozen communist parties will then take place on Kartik 19.

Earlier, Prachanda had briefed senior leaders on the progress of talks with the CPN (Unified Socialist) and other leftist forces, underscoring the urgency of consolidating the broader left alliance.
