KATHMANDU: Nepal GoodWeave Foundation (NGF) has concluded its Annual Social Audit Programme, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and the protection of children’s rights.

The event held in Kathmandu, brought together representatives from government bodies, local governments, civil society organizations, beneficiaries and the media, providing a forum for dialogue on child rights and labour issues.

The chief guest of the programme was Mr. Murari Prasad Kharel, Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission. Other distinguished guests included Ms. Shanti Thapa, Deputy Mayor of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality; Ms. Bhagwati Sangraula from the Social Welfare Council; and Ms. Devi Khadka of the NGO Federation of Nepal.

Speaking at the event, the speakers stressed the importance of transparency, inter-institutional cooperation and sustained efforts to eliminate child labour. They also underlined the need to strengthen accountability mechanisms in organizations working in the social sector.

A key feature of the programme was the recognition of NGF staff members who have completed five years of service. Tokens of appreciation were also presented to individuals and institutions for their continued support in advancing the foundation’s mission.

The annual social audit report was presented by NGF’s Senior Programme Manager, Mr. Hem Bahadur Moktan, outlining the organization’s activities over the past year, the challenges it faces and its priorities for the future. The programme was facilitated by Mr. Santosh Maharjan.

NGF expressed gratitude to its partners and stakeholders, saying their continued engagement was vital to promoting ethical practices and safeguarding the rights of children.
