Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has opened online applications for the Grade 11 and 12 scholarship entrance examination.

The Education Department of the metropolitan city issued a public notice announcing that applications will open from Jestha 1 May 14. Students can submit their applications through the metropolitan city’s official website.

According to the notice, the application window will remain open from 10:00 AM on Jestha 1 until 11:59 PM on Jestha 10.

The scholarship examination is scheduled to take place on Jestha 17 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

The exam will be based on the Grade 10 secondary level curriculum and will include 100 objective multiple-choice questions.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City stated that detailed information regarding subject wise weightage, school wise scholarship quotas, and examination centers will be made available on its website.

The metropolitan city has been conducting scholarship entrance examinations to provide scholarships to 10 percent of students studying in institutional private schools within Kathmandu.

Since 2079 BS, the city has systematically implemented the scholarship program for students studying in Grades 11 and 12 at private schools. So far, around 15,000 students from across the country have benefited from the initiative.

Last year, more than 14,000 students participated in the scholarship entrance examination conducted by Kathmandu Metropolitan City for Grades 11 and 12.

Among them, 10,867 students passed the examination, while only around 4,500 students ultimately received scholarships.

The scholarship system was introduced during the tenure of current Prime Minister Balen Shah when he served as Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
