At least 10 people have died after a passenger bus veered off the road and plunged into the Tamakoshi River in Ramechhap district on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The accident occurred at Tribeni Ghat in Manthali Municipality–6.

Police have recovered 10 bodies from the river so far, according to Deputy Inspector General Abhin Narayan Kafle, spokesperson for Nepal Police. One person was rescued unconscious, while another injured passenger has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa said eight people were seriously injured in the crash. Three of the critically injured have been referred to Dhulikhel Hospital, while others are receiving treatment at local health facilities.

The bus, bearing registration number Province 3–01–005 Kha 9975, was travelling from Manthali when it lost control near Tribeni Ghat and fell into the river. The driver was also injured.

Security personnel from the District Police Office, the Armed Police Force in Ramechhap, and the Disaster Management Base in Khurkot were deployed immediately after the incident. Rescue operations are ongoing with support from local residents.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, and an investigation is under way. The tragedy has left the district in mourning, with families of the victims grieving their loss.
