KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have issued a travel advisory amid heavy rainfall, warning of highway closures and nighttime traffic restrictions in several districts due to the increased risk of floods and landslides.

Traffic along the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli has been completely prohibited from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM until further notice. The road remains open during the daytime.

Similarly, the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur will remain closed from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM every day. In Nuwakot, non-essential public and private vehicles have been barred from using the Tokha–Chhahare road section between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

Meanwhile, several major highways have been disrupted by adverse weather. The Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 has been blocked by heavy mud, prompting authorities to advise travelers to use alternative routes.

In Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu Highway along the Trishuli–Mailung–Syabrubesi road has become impassable at Khalte in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 after the Trishuli River eroded the road.

The Bheri Corridor along the Jajarkot–Dolpa road in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West, also remains blocked after mud and stone debris flowed onto the road at Rijegard Khola.

Police have urged travelers and transport operators to remain cautious, monitor road conditions and avoid unnecessary nighttime travel on vulnerable road sections until weather and road conditions improve.
