KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the partial influence of westerly winds, with fog affecting some parts of the Terai region.

According to the Department, partial cloud cover has been observed over the high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the weather remains mostly clear in other parts of the country.

This afternoon, fog is likely to persist in some areas of the Terai. The mountainous regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, the hilly regions partly cloudy, and the rest of the country mostly clear. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in some high hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at one or two places in other hilly and mountainous regions.

Tonight, fog is likely to continue in parts of the Terai. Cloud cover is expected in the remaining mountainous areas, including Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The hilly regions will see partial cloud cover, while the weather elsewhere will remain mainly clear.

The Department has urged the public and concerned authorities to exercise caution while operating vehicles, conducting agricultural activities and carrying out daily routines, as fog in the Terai and possible light rain and snowfall in some high hilly and mountainous areas may disrupt regular activities.
