Makwanpur: Krishna Saru Magar, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Bagmati Province, has emphasized that Nepali journalism must embrace the spirit, movements and aspirations of the Gen Z.
Speaking at a two day capacity building training on “Use of AI in Journalism” held in indrasarovar Kulekhani on Thursday, Magar stated that journalism as a mirror of society, risks falling behind if it fails to address the expectations and evolving social consciousness of young people.
“The media must understand the sentiment of the Gen Z movement and the direction of change it represents and work accordingly,” he said.

Highlighting the role of journalists in social transformation, Magar noted that the media also shares responsibility for societal shortcomings.
“Journalists are not separate from society. If society deteriorates, its reflection can be seen in journalism as well,” he added.
He warned that a weak media sector ultimately weakens democracy, stressing the need for professionalism and ethical standards in journalism.
The program was organized by the Bagmati Province Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law in coordination with the FNJ Bagmati Province and its Makwanpur chapter.
The closing session was chaired by Ministry Division Chief Padam Ojha, with remarks from FNJ Bagmati Vice President Hari Humagai and FNJ Makwanpur Chair Balkrishna Adhikari, among others.
The training, conducted on Baisakh 16 and 17, featured sessions led by Shiv Puri and Ajay Sharma, covering topics such as AI introduction, content creation, prompt engineering and audio/video generation.
A total of 40 journalists participated in the training, where they also presented AI-generated content
