KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University has been conducting special “chance exams” for students whose academic progress has been stalled for up to three decades, aiming to help them complete their pending degrees.

The initiative targets students who remained irregular or failed to pass examinations in past academic years. According to Examination Controller Laxman Paudel, the move is part of efforts to restore the university’s regular academic calendar.

“We are conducting three to four categories of chance exams to correct the academic schedule. Students who missed or failed exams since 2053 BS are now getting the opportunity to appear,” Paudel said, adding that the scheme will continue until the end of the current fiscal year.

At present, chance examinations for BA LLB second year, BA regular second year, and BTech first and second years are underway during the month of Baisakh.

Around 115,000 students are participating in the ongoing exams.

The Office of the Controller of Examinations has stated that results will be published within 100 days.
