KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed the need to translate the achievements of Nepal’s Constitution into meaningful improvements in the daily lives of citizens.

In a message marking Constitution Day 2083 BS, Dahal said completing the remaining aspects of the constitutional process and delivering the changes envisioned by the Constitution should remain key national priorities.

He warned against any attempts to undermine or reverse the constitutional system, including the federal democratic republic and the rights guaranteed to citizens. He also urged democratic forces to work together to protect constitutional values and fundamental rights.

Dahal said political transformation must be accompanied by economic and social progress so that citizens can enjoy better access to education, healthcare, employment, production and equal opportunities.

“The Constitution must be implemented not only in its letter but also in its spirit, so that its provisions are reflected in the everyday lives of the people,” he said.

He described the Constitution as more than a legal document, saying it represents the institutionalization of Nepal’s historic political achievements secured through the sacrifices and struggles of the Nepali people.

Dahal called for collective efforts to consolidate these achievements and advance the fundamental changes envisioned by the Constitution.
