Kathmandu, Sept 14 – Long-time dissenter within the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Sumana Shrestha, has announced her resignation, citing serious disagreements with the party leadership.

In her statement , Shrestha said the party had begun prioritizing leaders above the nation and the party itself. “From the moment RSP placed the leader above the party and the party above the nation, I have been critical. The leadership has never admitted its mistakes and instead subjected critics to media trials,” she remarked.

Accusing the party of repeated blunders, she said members were forced to bear the consequences while dissenting voices were silenced. “Now, if they want to attack me openly, I’ve made it easier for them. Do as you wish for as long as you can. I have left the party,” she declared.

Shrestha also took aim at third-generation leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, calling their leadership “indifferent” and a key reason behind the country’s current crisis. “Why keep carrying that burden? The right time has come. Stop worshipping your leaders. Either remove them, or step aside,” she urged.
