Kathmandu: The FIFA World Cup 2026 has reached its semifinal stage and football fans are in for a treat. The four teams left standing are also the top four ranked teams in the world.

France and Spain Clash in the First Semifinal

The first semifinal will be an all European affair. France, ranked third in the world, cruised past Morocco with a comfortable 2-0 win to reach the semifinals. They will now take on Spain, ranked second, who edged out Belgium 2-1 in their own quarterfinal battle.

This semifinal will kick off on Wednesday, 15 July at 12:45 am NST at Dallas Stadium.

Argentina Survives a Scare, Will Meet England

Defending champions Argentina, currently ranked number one in the world, needed extra time to get past a tough Switzerland side. The match was locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes but Argentina pulled away in extra time to win 3-1 and book their spot in the final four.

Waiting for them is England, ranked fourth in the world who beat Norway 2-1 to reach the semifinals. Argentina and England will face off on Thursday, 16 July at 12:45 am NST at Atlanta Stadium, in a clash that pits the current champions against a resurgent English side hungry for more World Cup glory.

A Guaranteed Champion, But Who Will It Be?

With Argentina, England, France and Spain all through to the semifinals, football fans already know one thing for certain: whoever lifts the trophy this year will not be a newcomer to World Cup success, since all four teams have won the tournament at least once before. What remains to be seen is which of these football powerhouses will add one more star to their jersey.
