Lalitpur — CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the appointment of current Prime Minister Sushila Karki was made through a constitutional process, based on a written recommendation from then caretaker Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Speaking at an interaction with editors on Friday, Prachanda clarified that Karki’s appointment was not just a political decision but also followed the proper constitutional procedure. “It was KP Oli who officially recommended Sushila Karki for the post of Prime Minister,” he said. “On the basis of Oli’s written recommendation, the President appointed her. So, calling this government unconstitutional makes no sense.”
Acknowledging the current political crisis, Prachanda stressed the need for a broad national consensus involving all political parties, civil society, journalists and intellectuals.
“There is a common understanding that the nation is in crisis,” he said. “Now, we must work together to find a shared political solution.” He also noted that young people have placed high hopes in Prime Minister Karki’s leadership, saying that political maturity is needed to balance youth aspirations with the country’s needs.
