Kathmandu – Following the merger of the CPN Maoist Centre and eight other parties, the new political party will be named the ‘Nepali Communist Party’.
The announcement was made by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ during a meeting of the Maoist’s convention organizing committee held at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi.
The party’s election symbol has been agreed upon as a five-pointed star, a decision reached earlier among the eight parties. On Sunday, the 18-point agreement between the Maoist party, CPN Unified Socialist, and other seven parties did not include the party’s name.

Tomorrow, an official ceremony will be held at Bhrikuti Mandap, where the unity of all parties will be formally announced.
