Kathmandu: Nepal will play Scotland in their final Group C match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Tuesday evening, with pride the only prize at stake.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:15pm Nepali time at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Already eliminated from the tournament, Nepal are seeking a consolation victory to end their campaign on a positive note. Scotland, who have collected two points from their three matches, have also failed to progress to the Super Eight stage. Group C has been topped by England and the West Indies, who both advanced with six points.
A challenging campaign
Nepal’s campaign began with a narrow four-run defeat against England in what was widely regarded as a spirited performance. Chasing 185, Nepal finished on 180 for six in their 20 overs, falling just short of a historic win.
However, their momentum did not carry forward. In their second match, Nepal were comprehensively beaten by Italy, losing by 10 wickets after posting 123 runs. Italy chased down the target without losing a wicket.
The third outing ended in a nine-wicket defeat to the West Indies. Nepal managed 133 after being asked to bat first, before the two-time champions reached the target in 15.2 overs with only one wicket down.
With three defeats from three matches, Nepal remain without a point heading into their final fixture.
World Cup journey
Nepal first qualified for the T20 World Cup in 2014. After a 10-year absence, they returned to the tournament in 2024, where they impressed with competitive displays, including a narrow one-run defeat to South Africa.
Despite featuring in three editions of the tournament, Nepal have yet to progress beyond the group stage.
The team are led by captain Rohit Paudel, who is overseeing his second successive T20 World Cup campaign. Fast bowler Sompal Kami has become the first Nepali cricketer to appear in three T20 World Cups.
Nepal’s squad for the tournament includes Rohit Paudel (captain), Dipendra Singh Airee (vice-captain), Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sandeep Jora, Aarif Sheikh, Basir Ahmad, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sher Malla and Lokesh Bam.
Tuesday’s match offers Nepal a final opportunity to demonstrate progress and resilience on cricket’s global stage, even as their hopes of advancing have already ended.
