Nepalgunj FC Jubail Crowned Champions of 10th Sagarmatha Gold Cup 2026 in Riyadh

Kathmandu: Nepalgunj FC Jubail claimed the title of the 10th Sagarmatha Gold Cup 2026 after defeating Navdeep Football Club 4-3 in a penalty shootout in the final held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Organized by Sagarmatha Football Club on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the tournament took place on May 28 and 29 at Rabia Ground in Riyadh. The final ended level in regulation time before Nepalgunj FC Jubail secured victory from the penalty spot in a closely contested encounter.

The competition featured 15 football clubs representing Nepali communities from different regions of Saudi Arabia. The opening and closing ceremonies were attended by Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Srijana Adhikari as the chief guest.

With the victory, Nepalgunj FC Jubail received a cash prize of 7,500 Saudi Riyals along with a trophy and certificates while runners up Navdeep FC earned 3,800 Saudi Riyals, a trophy and certificates.

In the individual awards, Nepalgunj FC players won the Best Goalkeeper and Best Forward titles. A Navdeep FC player was named Best Defender while Manraj Gurung of Mongolian Football Club emerged as the tournament’s highest scorer. Nepalgunj FC’s team manager received the Best Team Manager award, and Navdeep FC coach Chhabi Devkota was recognized as the Best Coach.

Sagarmatha Football Club Secretary Dawa Sherpa said the tournament was organized to promote unity, cooperation and healthy competition among Nepalis living abroad while also encouraging youth participation in sports.

Organizers said the event successfully strengthened community ties and boosted interest in football among the Nepali diaspora in Riyadh. The final and prize distribution ceremony drew a large number of Nepali football supporters whose enthusiastic presence added to the tournament’s success.

Navdeep Football Club served as the main sponsor of the event, with Sagarmatha Football Club as co sponsor. Support was also provided by Laligurans Restaurant, Fly City Travel and Ticketing and other partner organizations.
