Tehran: Iran has called on Gulf countries to play a role in halting the ongoing conflict, stating that nations in West Asia have a legal and moral responsibility to prevent U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran.
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry argued that regional countries should not allow the United States or Israel to use their territories for military operations against Iran.
The ministry specifically referred to countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, urging them to ensure that their land, facilities or infrastructure are not used to plan, support or carry out attacks on Iran.
U.S. Base in Jordan Targeted
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched attacks on U.S. military sites in Jordan.
According to Iran, the operation was carried out in response to U.S. airstrikes on several Iranian locations, including Jask, Qeshm Island, Minab, Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
Jordan Says Five Iranian Missiles Intercepted
Jordan’s military said on Wednesday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed five missiles launched from Iran.
The military stated that the missiles were heading toward the Al-Azraq area in eastern Jordan. Missile debris reportedly fell in several locations but no casualties or property damage have been reported.
Jordanian authorities said military engineering teams were deployed to secure the wreckage and remove any unexploded ordnance.
Iran Claims F-35 Hangars Destroyed
The IRGC also claimed that a long-range missile strike on an airbase in Jordan destroyed four key facilities, including hangars housing F-35 fighter jets and a command center.
According to Iran, the strike was part of a broader retaliatory campaign against the United States. Tehran claimed that a total of 21 U.S. air and naval targets across the Middle East had been attacked.
Iran Claims U.S. MQ-9 Drone Shot Down
Iran further claimed that it had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone in the Jam area of southern Iran.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that footage of the drone being downed has circulated on social media. However, the U.S. military has not officially confirmed the loss of an MQ-9 drone.
Air Raid Sirens Sound in Bahrain
Amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry urged residents to remain calm and immediately move to the nearest safe location.
The alert came after Iran claimed to have targeted the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with drones. The incident follows recent U.S. airstrikes on multiple Iranian military facilities.
