Kathmandu: NEPSE closed lower on the last trading day of the week breaking a two day winning streak. The index had risen for the previous two sessions before slipping back on Friday.

Index Drops Slightly
The NEPSE index fell by 8.30 points to close at 2653.40 on Friday. Other indices also moved down, the Sensitive Index dropped by 2.65 points, the Float Index fell by 0.64 points and the Sensitive Float Index declined by 0.90 points.
Trading Volume Rises Despite the Fall
Even though the index dropped, the total trading amount increased compared to the previous day. On Thursday, shares worth NPR 4.11 billion were traded.
On Friday, trading rose to NPR 4.41 billion with 8.584 million shares of 345 stocks changing hands across 46,234 transactions.
Stocks Hitting Circuit Limits
Three stocks traded at the positive circuit level on Friday: Sanigad Hydro, Snow River and Kalanga Hydro.
Nepal Finance saw its share price rise by nearly 15 percent while Khani Khola Hydropower’s share price gained more than 11.5 percent. On the losing side, Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower recorded the day’s biggest drop falling 13.65 percent.
Top Traded Securities
By trading amount, the 4% Agricultural Bond topped the list with NPR 430 million worth of the bond traded. The 11% KBL Debenture 2089 followed with transactions worth about NPR 400 million.
NRN Infrastructure and Development also saw significant activity with trading exceeding NPR 175 million.
Sub Index Performance
Of the 13 sub-indices, 5 rose while 8 declined on Friday. The Finance sub index posted the day’s biggest gain, up 1.06 percent. The Development Bank, Hydropower, Microfinance and Trading sub indices also saw modest gains.
On the other hand, the Banking sub index recorded the largest decline falling by 0.96 percent.
