KATHMANDU: Several major highways across Nepal remain blocked or disrupted today due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall.

Following the flooding of the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa, several road sections in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, including the Prithvi Highway, have remained disrupted since August 26.

The Prithvi Highway, which was blocked by landslides, remains completely impassable. Vehicles have been unable to pass through Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 of Dhading.

Meanwhile, police said one-way traffic has been allowed through Jwang Khola, located on the border of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 and Gajuri Rural Municipality-2 in Dhading.

A landslide at Chisapani in Chandragiri Municipality-2, Kathmandu, has also restricted traffic to one-way movement along the Dhading-Kathmandu road section.

Several other road sections across the country remain blocked, including the Mugu-Gamgadhi road in Mugu, the Shahid Highway in Rolpa, and sections of the Karnali Highway in Surkhet and Dailekh.

Police said traffic management measures have also been implemented along the Khurkot-Nepalthok section of the BP Highway. Under the arrangement, goods vehicles are allowed to operate at night, while passenger vehicles are permitted to travel during the daytime.
