Lalitpur: Swisscontact, through its QualiTY project, has signed an agreement with Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) to implement a Training and Certification Programme to Enhance the Pedagogical Skills of TVET Instructors, marking a significant step toward professionalising Nepal’s technical and vocational education workforce.

The MoU was signed yesterday by Prof. Bal Chandra Luitel, Dean of KUSOED, and Sanjay Karki, Country Director of Swisscontact Nepal, in the presence of Anoj Bhattarai, Executive Director of the Training Institute for Technical Instruction (TITI).

The partnership aims to strengthen the teaching competencies of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors, enhance recognition of their skills, and create new academic and career pathways.

Stakeholders say the initiative will help improve the quality of TVET delivery and contribute to building a more skilled and professional workforce in Nepal.

The programme focuses on converting instructors’ practical teaching experience into recognised academic credentials, supporting both current and aspiring TVET educators in advancing their professional development.

The QualiTY project is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland. It is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented with technical assistance from Swisscontact.

Officials said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Nepal’s TVET system and better preparing educators to meet the evolving demands of the labour market.

Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, Professor of KUSOED said the programme is scheduled to be officially launched in February 2026.
