The Rastriya Swatantra Party has selected Dr. Lekh Jung Thapa as its candidate for Rupandehi-3. In a central secretariat meeting held on Monday, Thapa was chosen as the candidate through a preliminary election. Following the meeting, Vice Chairperson D.P. Aryal announced Thapa as the candidate at the party office and handed him the bell symbol.

“Dr. Thapa has been proposed as the candidate for Rupandehi-3, and the remaining eight will serve as his campaign team,” Vice Chairperson Aryal stated. Nine candidates had competed in the preliminary election. Alongside Thapa, the contenders included Kusum Maharjan, Madhu Aryal, Sulabh Kharel, Parthivendra Upadhyay, Gyan Poudel, Jit Bahadur Gupta, Rachana Kshetri, and Poonam Kumari Agrawal.

Party Chairperson Ravi Lamichhane met all aspiring candidates at Nakkhu Prison on Sunday morning. During the meeting, he conveyed that only one candidate would be chosen, while the others would get opportunities in 084, wishing them success in the election. Thapa emphasized that his agenda focuses on free healthcare and removing hassles for patients at hospitals. He stated that he is committed to campaigning for the changes that the people desire and will continue to strive for them. Lamichhane remarked that this is not just an election, but a revolution, and he intends to approach it in that spirit.
