Hanoi, — Nepal and Vietnam have held bilateral discussions in Hanoi aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and boosting investment between the two countries. The meeting brought together the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand and Vietnam, Dhan Bahadur Oli, urged Vietnamese investors to explore export-oriented, manufacturing, ICT, pharmaceutical and herbal industries in Nepal. Marking 50 years of diplomatic relations, he stressed that both nations should take advantage of emerging opportunities despite global economic challenges.

“Nepal has strong potential for export-based industries, and we encourage Vietnamese investors to tap into these opportunities,” Ambassador Oli said. He also highlighted prospects in tourism, including adventure tourism, wellness centres, cable cars and resort development.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal echoed the call for closer economic ties and said Nepal offers promising markets for Vietnamese agricultural goods, seafood and electronics. He added that Nepal has made progress in creating a foreign investment–friendly environment, improving licensing, customs and tax administration processes.

Dhakal noted that Nepali handicrafts, tea, coffee and herbal products have strong potential in the Vietnamese market. He invited the Vietnamese delegation to attend FNCCI’s upcoming annual general meeting to observe Nepal’s business climate firsthand.

VCCI’s Deputy Executive President Nguyen Cuong Vinh said Vietnam is equally keen to expand economic partnership with Nepal. “While current trade and investment levels remain limited, there is substantial room for growth,” he stated, emphasising continued cooperation in the coming days.
