
KATHMANDU: A Turkish Airlines aircraft caught fire while landing at Kathmandu on Monday, prompting an emergency evacuation of all passengers on board.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the fire was brought under control with the help of fire engines shortly after the incident.
CAAN Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul said all passengers and crew members were rescued safely through the aircraft’s emergency exits.
The aircraft was carrying 277 passengers, including four children. All passengers were evacuated safely, although a few sustained minor injuries during the rescue operation.
Authorities said some cargo and baggage, including a few human remains being transported on the flight, were also on board at the time of the incident.
Further details about the cause of the fire are yet to be released.
