
A global organization called Universal Peace Federation (UPF) has announced that Dr. Hak Ja Han has been nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The nomination was made by Ján Figeľ, a former European Union official who works on religious freedom issues.

Dr. Han was born in what is now North Korea and experienced the effects of war and division early in life. She later co-founded major international groups, including the Universal Peace Federation and the Women’s Federation for World Peace.
Being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize is an honor, but it does not mean she will win. Each year, many people are nominated, and the final decision is made by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
