Kathmandu: Independent lawmaker and renowned social innovator Mahabir Pun has been appointed as the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.
According to the government, Pun is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at 3 PM today at Sheetal Niwas, the Office of the President.
His appointment follows the government’s decision to restructure ministries, reducing their number from 25 to 18 and establishing a separate Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Pun, widely recognized for his contributions to innovation, education, and technology development in Nepal, has long advocated for the creation of a dedicated ministry to promote scientific research, technological advancement, and innovation.
He is expected to lead the newly established ministry with a focus on strengthening research, fostering innovation and accelerating technology driven development across the country.
