Bhadrapur, Jhapa: An industrial, trade, agriculture and tourism exposition will be held in Bhadrapur, one of Nepal’s oldest industrial towns, marking the event’s return after a nine-year hiatus.
Organised by the Jhapa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the expo will run from January 21 to February 4 at Mechi Stadium, under the theme “Economic Development through Agriculture, Tourism, Industry and Trade.”
Organisers say the event aims to revitalise private-sector confidence following recent social unrest that has affected business sentiment. Acting chamber president Raj Kumar Rai said the expo is expected to play a constructive role in restoring trust and optimism among entrepreneurs and investors.
More than 100 stalls will showcase domestic products, agricultural goods, tourism services and selected international brands. The organisers estimate the event will cost approximately Rs 12 million (USD 90,000) and generate transactions worth at least Rs 100 million, while attracting over 100,000 visitors.
Nine subcommittees have been formed to oversee finance, stage management, stall operations, publicity, publications, security, hospitality and monitoring. The expo’s organising structure reflects a coordinated effort between business groups and local stakeholders.
Deputy Mayor Radha Karki said Bhadrapur Municipality would play a supportive and supervisory role to ensure the event’s success, highlighting the expo’s importance for local economic recovery and regional trade promotion.
Bhadrapur has historically served as a key industrial and commercial hub in eastern Nepal, and organisers believe the expo will help reinforce its role as a centre for cross-border trade, agriculture and tourism.
