
Kathmandu: The 33rd memorial day of former CPN UML General Secretary Madan Kumar Bhandari and former party Organization Department chief Jeevraj Ashrit is being observed across Nepal today with various commemorative programmes.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) has organized memorial meetings, seminars, and tribute events in different parts of the country. Major programmes are being held at Madannagar in Balkhu and at the Madan Bhandari Memorial Foundation in Gothatar, where leaders and supporters are discussing the political contributions and legacy of the two late leaders.
As part of the observance, the party and affiliated organizations are also conducting tree plantation campaigns, blood donation drives, free health camps, and fruit distribution programmes for hospital patients.
Madan Kumar Bhandari and Jeevraj Ashrit died in a road accident at Dasdhunga on Jestha 3, 2050 BS.
Bhandari is widely regarded as one of Nepal’s most influential communist leaders and is remembered for advancing the concept of multi-party democracy within the communist movement in Nepal
