KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is preparing to bring Kathmandu to life this Saturday, Poush 5, with a Bagmati level “Unity Message Assembly” at Bhrikutimandap. Organisers say thousands of party supporters from the Kathmandu Valley and nearby districts are expected to take part.

From early morning, groups of supporters will gather at different points across the city before marching together in rallies towards the main venue. The party says the routes have been carefully planned to make movement easier and avoid congestion.

Supporters from western Kathmandu, including Nagarjun, Chandragiri, Kirtipur and Dakshinkali, along with people arriving from Chitwan and Dhading will meet at Sundhara at 11:00 am. Their rally will then move through Ratna Park towards Bhrikutimandap.

Those coming from Lalitpur will assemble at Kupondole and join the main procession via Thapathali and Tripureshwor.

From the northern parts of the capital, including Tokha, Tarkeshwar and nearby districts such as Nuwakot and Rasuwa, supporters will gather at Ratna Park before marching through Bagbazar, Putalisadak and Padmodaya Mode.

Other groups, including participants from Budhanilkantha, Gokarneshwar and Kageshwori Manohara, will meet at Dillibazar Charkhal and join the rally moving through Putalisadak. Supporters from Bhaktapur and several eastern hill districts will gather at Babarmahal and proceed via Bhadra Kali.

By late morning, all rallies are expected to converge at Bhrikutimandap, where a T-shaped stage has been set up so participants can be seated from three sides. The marches will begin around 11:30 am and reach the venue by noon.

Senior party leaders, including Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal, are scheduled to address the gathering. The programme will also include cultural displays and music, with large screens and sound systems arranged so that people across the ground can follow the speeches.

Organizers have asked participants to cooperate with volunteers managing crowds and security, and to help keep the venue clean after the event. The assembly is expected to wrap up within about two hours.
