KATHMANDU: The Rastra, Rastriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti and Nagarik Bachau Mahaabhiyan has demanded the government roll back the recent fuel price hike, warning of protests if the decision is not reversed within a week.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Saturday, campaign coordinator Durga Prasai said the group would launch a protest movement if authorities fail to address their demand within the given timeframe. He added that the agitation would be led by the campaign’s student wing.

Prasai also cautioned the government against attempting to dissolve student organizations, emphasizing their role in raising public concerns. “Student groups are essential for voicing issues,” he said.

Recalling past incidents where even a Rs 2 increase in fuel prices triggered protests, he criticized student organizations for remaining silent despite what he claimed was a steep hike of around Rs 100 in current fuel prices.
