Kathmandu: With 62 days remaining until Nepal’s House of Representatives election scheduled for 5 March, the Election Commission has invited service providers to apply for the transportation of essential election materials.

The Commission said helicopters, trucks, containers and courier services will be mobilised to deliver ballot papers and other logistical supplies across the country. Companies operating in these sectors have been asked to submit applications after meeting specified eligibility criteria.

Applicants must provide copies of their operating licences, Value Added Tax registration, tax clearance certificates up to the fiscal year 2081/82, and transaction records covering the past three fiscal years.

According to the Commission, helicopter rental firms must show an average annual turnover of at least Rs 30 million over the last three years. Truck and container service providers are required to submit transaction details worth a minimum of Rs 10 million, while courier companies must demonstrate transactions of at least Rs 3 million.

Courier service applicants must also provide details of their offices and representatives in all 77 districts, along with telephone and mobile contact numbers.

The Election Commission has said that applications submitted for more than one service category will not be accepted. It also stated that it retains the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion.
