Kathmandu: FIFA has suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with immediate effect citing violations under Article 14 of the FIFA Statutes.The decision was made by the FIFA Council Bureau on Wednesday and the suspension will remain in place until further notice.

As a result of the ruling, ANFA has lost all membership rights granted under Article 13 of the FIFA Statutes.

What the suspension means

While the ban is in effect, Nepal’s national teams and club sides will be barred from taking part in any international competitions. This applies across the board, from the senior national team down to domestic clubs that would otherwise compete internationally.

The suspension also cuts off funding and support programs. ANFA, along with any of its members or officials, will be ineligible to benefit from development programs, training or coaching initiatives run by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Funding previously provided by FIFA and the AFC will also be halted.
Additionally, ANFA officials will no longer be permitted to participate in FIFA or AFC development programs during the suspension period.

Path to reinstatement

FIFA noted that the suspension could be lifted at any time even before the next FIFA Congress, if the Council Bureau or FIFA Council determines that the issues behind the decision have been resolved.
