Kathmandu: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed the need to reunify and strengthen Nepal’s communist movement, saying it must regain its vitality by drawing inspiration from the legacy of veteran communist leaders.

Addressing a program in Kathmandu on Saturday to mark the 13th memorial day of NCP founding leader Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Prachanda said the country’s communist movement has suffered setbacks in recent years and should be revitalized by following the ideals and contributions of leaders such as Pushpa Lal Shrestha and Nar Bahadur Karmacharya.

He said communist forces must unite to safeguard national sovereignty, confront growing challenges, and resist authoritarian tendencies with determination.

Recalling Karmacharya’s role as a close associate of Pushpa Lal, Prachanda said the late leader played a significant part in organizing the labor movement, advancing class struggle, and strengthening Nepal’s communist movement. He described Karmacharya’s contributions as a lasting source of inspiration.

Prachanda also said that being active in politics for only a few years or making occasional sacrifices is not enough, arguing that true revolutionaries remain committed to their ideology, principles, and objectives throughout their lives.

He said Nar Bahadur Karmacharya set an example by remaining steadfast in his political ideals and revolutionary path until his final days.
