KATHMANDU: Forum of Nepalese Journalist has marked its 20th anniversary with an award ceremony recognizing excellence and long service in journalism.

The Late Gaurinarayan Shrestha Madhyannah Journalism Award was presented to Shankar Aryal, Economic Bureau Chief of Ratopati.com. With nearly 14 years of experience, he received a cash prize of NPR 11,111 along with ceremonial honours.

The award was jointly handed over by chief guest Akhand Bhandari and Krishna Kumari Shrestha while the Forum’s President, Yubaraj Bidrohi presented the certificate.

Meanwhile, the Umakant Paudel Memorial Journalism Award 2082 was awarded to Shiromani Dawadi in recognition of his more than 30 year contribution to the field. He received NPR 5,555.

Addressing the event, Mr Bhandari said such recognition not only honours individual achievement but also strengthens institutional credibility. Mr Bidrohi added that the awards aim to preserve legacy and promote ethical journalism.

Vice President Bimal Thapa, delivering the welcome address expressed confidence that the Forum would continue to support journalists in the years ahead.
