Manthali, August 27, Former teacher and social worker Shyam Subedi, along with his family from Ward No. 1 of Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap, has distributed cash and educational materials to underprivileged students studying in various schools and campuses across the district.
The distribution took place during a program held in Manthali. Through personal investment, the Subedi family provided 10 lakh NPR in cash and school materials—including notebooks, pens, school bags, and tracksuits sufficient for one year—to 83 students from six educational institutions in the district.
Under the “Talented Students Education Support Program,” the beneficiaries included:
35 students from Manthali Secondary School, Manthali
10 students each from Bhairavi Secondary School, Sunarpani; Seti Devi Secondary School, Salu; and Siddheshwar Secondary School, Gairathok
6 students from Manthali Shahid Smriti Multipurpose Campus
12 students from Tamakoshi Campus, Khimti
Specifically, at Manthali Shahid Smriti Multipurpose Campus, Gita Pant and Sumitra Purkutti received cash scholarships (18,000 NPR along with tracksuits, bags, and stationery), while Resuna Rokka, Sunila Tamang, Ambika Shrestha, and Alina Shrestha received educational materials (tracksuits, bags, notebooks, and pens).
At Tamakoshi Campus, Khimti, Sukshma Kafle, Chhatra Maya Shrestha, Ruku Karki, and Sajina Baruwal received cash scholarships of 18,000 NPR with tracksuits, bags, and pens, while Sabina Khadka, Sulochana Thapa, Sirjana Budhathoki, Parvati Baruwal, Asmita Thapa, Binda Khatri, Laxmi Budhathoki, and Rita Thapa Magar received educational materials.
From Bhairavi Secondary School, Sunarpani, Susmita Pahari, Niruta, and Anushka Bhujel received cash scholarships of 10,000 NPR each (including tracksuits, bags, and pens), and Nabina Basel, Anju Shrestha, Karishma Basel, Ashika Karki, Savitra Basel, Manisha Pahari, and Sanchita Bhattarai received educational materials.
At Siddheshwar Secondary School, Gairathok, Dipa Pulami, Puja Magar, and Bimala Ale received cash scholarships of 10,000 NPR each, while Gita Sinjali, Saraswati Pithakoti, Ranjita Tolange, Shobha Ale, Sukumaya Pulami, Dipshikha Thapamagar, and Sarita Ghimire received educational materials.
From Seti Devi Secondary School, Salu, Rashmi Shrestha, Anusha Kafle, and Jenny Tamang received cash scholarships of 10,000 NPR each, while Asmita Tamang, Samiksha Khadka, Roshna Kafle, Pratima Bhattarai, Diksha Khatri, Khil Kumari Sunuwar, and Karuna Ranamagar received educational materials.
From Manthali Secondary School, Manthali, Sushma Newar, Dipika Karki, Sudina Shrestha, Sushma Khatri, Sandhya Magar, Diksha Majhi, Rama Mungrati, Karishma Magar, Alina Khatri, and Astha Bhujel received cash scholarships of 10,000 NPR each. Educational materials were provided to Reshika Rokka, Astha Majhi, Elizabeth Thapamagar, Manisha Bhandari, Aakriti Majhi, Binita Budhathoki, Junutia Majhi, Indira Budhathoki, Sapana Budhathoki, Roshni Majhi, Anisha Magar, Asmita Khatri, Rubina Karki, Sumina Bhujel, Bhavana Khadka, Niramaya Shrestha, Pratima Nepali, Rojita B.K., Ganga Tamang, Saraswati K.C., Salina Magar, Aruna Karki, Karina Magar, Sobita Budhathoki, and Roshika Budhathoki.
Speaking at the distribution event, social worker Shyam Subedi mentioned that students from Harre Chinde Secondary School, Fulasi (Ward No. 13), Siddheshwar Secondary School, Hattitar (Ward No. 6), and Kalika Secondary School, Tekanpur (Ward No. 2) are also planned to receive school uniforms in the near future.
He added that he has been running this program for over 10 years, guided by his belief in promoting the education of girls in society.
Regarding the selection process, Subedi stated that the schools recommend underprivileged and talented students, and based on these recommendations, he distributes the educational materials.
The program was chaired by Shyam Subedi and was graced by former principal of Manthali Shahid Smriti Multipurpose Campus, Gunjbahadur Shrestha, as the chief guest.
