KATHMANDU: Nepal is likely to experience another unsettled day, with heavy rainfall forecast in parts of four provinces as monsoon winds continue to affect the entire country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpashchim Province.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at many places in the hilly regions. Moderate rain is also likely in some parts of the Terai in Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The country is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day, with moderate rain or snowfall possible in some Himalayan areas. Thunderstorms are also likely in parts of the Terai.

The unsettled weather is expected to continue into the night. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces, the division said.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division said monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country, while the monsoon low-pressure line has shifted slightly north of its normal position. A low-pressure area formed around Uttar Pradesh is also influencing weather conditions over Nepal.

In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thundershowers is forecast. Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 27°C and 29°C, while nighttime temperatures could fall to 19°C–21°C. The probability of rainfall has been estimated at 60 percent.

Among the major cities, Bhairahawa is expected to record the highest daytime temperature, ranging from 32°C to 34°C. Jomsom is forecast to remain the coolest, with temperatures between 19°C and 21°C.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 29°C–31°C in Dhangadhi, 31°C–33°C in Biratnagar, 27°C–29°C in Pokhara, and 31°C–33°C in Janakpur.

Authorities have urged people, particularly those in areas prone to flooding, landslides and thunderstorms, to remain alert as the monsoon continues to bring unstable weather conditions across the country.
